Just Vertical began in 2017 with University of Toronto science graduates Conner Tidd and Kevin Jakiela. The Canadian company brings plant science and furniture design together to make growing food at home more accessible. Its EVE and AEVA gardens turn a small part of your living space into a place to grow, learn and harvest.

How the growing system works
Plants grow in starter plugs rather than a bed of soil. A pump carries water and diluted nutrients from the reservoir to the roots; unused solution returns to the reservoir. Timed LEDs provide the light cycle. You still monitor water, add nutrients as directed, tend plants and clean the system.

A slim, furniture-style garden for herbs and leafy greens when floor space is limited. Grow basil, lettuce or a mix of kitchen favourites in 12 planting positions, with the lighting and watering built into one unit.

A larger living feature for a kitchen or dining space, with 16 planting positions and more room between plants and lights than EVE. Choose a varied herb-and-greens garden, or discuss suitable compact fruiting crops such as peppers and tomatoes.

From seed to your own growing routine

A garden is only the beginning. Just Vertical also offers seed packs, starter plugs, a Seed Starting Kit and nutrient options to support planting and replenishment.
Herbs & leafy greens
Seed choices include basil, Sweet Thai Basil, chives, dill, butter lettuce, arugula, kale and Pac Choi. These are useful starting points for kitchen herbs and salad greens in EVE or AEVA. Ordinary seed packs are listed with four peat plugs and seeds; we confirm the selected pack contents and current supply.
Fruiting crops & flowers
The seed range also includes cherry tomatoes, jalapeño peppers, dwarf strawberries and flowers such as marigold and lavatera. These are seed/crop options—not a promise that every variety suits every garden. EVE has tighter plant-to-light clearance; discuss mature size, support and pollination before choosing a fruiting crop for AEVA or another system.
Seed Starting Kit: raise your next planting
A compact propagation kit for germinating seedlings before transplanting. The listed kit combines a tray, seeds, peat plugs and a USB-C light with cord and power brick. Its stated size is 8 inches wide × 6 inches long × 5 inches high. A useful companion when you want to start the next planting while your main garden is growing.
Plugs, nutrients & ongoing supplies
Grow Anything Plugs and Canna Aqua Vega A&B / Aqua Flores A&B nutrient products appear in the range. We help confirm the appropriate growing medium and feeding guidance for the selected crop and growth stage. Follow the supplied instructions; nutrients are not interchangeable simply because they are sold for hydroponics.
Beyond the home garden

Grow Racks: a modular indoor starting point
Single- and double-sided racks combine growing columns, irrigation and LED lighting. The manufacturer lists 210 or 420 planting ports respectively. They offer a way to discuss a pilot project or expandable growing area. Indoor placement is required; the listed room-temperature range is 15–30°C. We confirm working clearance, utilities and the supplied configuration.
Standalone Grow Wall: smaller-scale indoor farming
This distinct commercial system has 88 listed planting ports, full-spectrum lighting and a refillable reservoir. Its listed dimensions are 3 feet long × 1.37 feet wide × 5.96 feet high. Consider it for a manageable indoor growing programme where access and routine care are planned. The manufacturer specifies indoor conditions of 15–30°C.
Custom Indoor Farms & Container Farms
A custom farm is designed around the site and growing goals. Container options include 20-foot and 40-foot formats with insulated enclosures and integrated growing equipment. These are assessed projects: access, supporting ground, electricity, water, climate control and operator training all need a confirmed scope. They are not a plug-in substitute for an EVE or AEVA.
Tropical Green Walls: a living design feature
For an office, reception area or other design-led interior, tropical walls focus on ornamental planting rather than edible harvests. Dimensions, plant selection, irrigation, lighting and maintenance are specified for the project. The published room-temperature guidance is 15–30°C; we assess suitability before proposing a system.

EVE or AEVA: which should I choose?
EVE is the narrower choice for herbs and leafy greens. AEVA offers four more planting positions and greater plant-to-light clearance, making it the better starting point to discuss larger or fruiting crops. Mature plant size still matters; neither garden suits every crop.
Does it need a sunny window or plumbing?
The gardens use built-in lighting and a refillable reservoir. Plan an accessible indoor position near a standard 120 V outlet, away from vents. Just Vertical recommends ordinary room conditions around 18–25°C. Allow space to care for plants and follow the supplied securing instructions.
How much care will I need to give it?
Automatic watering does not mean maintenance-free. Check water and plant condition, add nutrients according to the current guide, prune or harvest, and clean the reservoir and growing system. The manufacturer describes typical reservoir refills every one to two weeks, depending on plant size; inspect your own garden rather than relying on a fixed interval.
What arrives, and what might I need later?
Just Vertical describes the gardens as delivered assembled, with a starter growing kit. We confirm the exact unit, finish, starter seeds, nutrients, delivery and setup scope in your quotation. Seeds, growing plugs, nutrients and cleaning supplies are part of the ongoing routine—not an unlimited supply.
