Features that shape the experience
The Russound SMZ8 combines source selection, music streaming and amplification in a central controller for the home. Choose what plays in each room, group spaces when you entertain and keep everyday control close at hand through the Russound app or compatible wall controls.
Eight zones, planned properly
The SMZ8 distributes up to eight sources across eight zones. Six zones have built-in amplification; zones 7 and 8 use line-level outputs and need separate amplification.
Streaming and familiar controls
A built-in high-resolution streamer supports AirPlay and Google Cast. Control the system with the Russound app, or add an optional IPK-1 keypad or XTS7 touchscreen.
TV sound around the home
HDMI ARC accepts PCM stereo from a compatible TV. Low-latency source sharing supports listening in nearby rooms, with the TV settings and primary zone configured during installation.
Sound adjusted to the room
Seven-band graphic EQ, Russound speaker presets and zone settings give the installer tools to tailor each listening area.

Everyday rooms
Give the kitchen, dining room and living areas their own listening zones, with controls chosen around the people who use them.
SMZ8 with an installer-selected speaker layout, cabling, network setup and room-by-room configuration. Speaker quantity and load are confirmed in the design.
Eight-zone home and patio
Add suitable external amplification for zones 7 and 8, with speaker choices and power sized for the larger rooms or outdoor areas in the plan.
Convenient control and more sources
Consider an IPK-1, an XTS7 or additional MBX-PRE streamers when the household needs more control points or independent streaming sources.

What to confirm before choosing
The SMZ8 must be unlocked and configured by a Russound Certified Installer, with an internet connection required for activation. We review the room count, existing wiring, speaker loads and controls before a package is specified.
A remote MBX-AMP room does not share sources or join playback with SMZ/MCA controller rooms. An MBX-PRE used as an additional wired streaming source is a different configuration.
Confirm speaker loads, the number of independent music streams and which TV sources supply PCM stereo.
